Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die, Charlie Brown.
My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius, father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife, and I will have my vengeance, Charlie Brown, in this life or the next.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.

all those moments will be lost in time. like tears in rain.

time to die, Charlie Brown

Some questionable reporting by the BBC here.
There’s no recognition that Eurostar isn’t just the cross channel operation- its “Thalys” services operate between France and Belgium. This purchase is geared towards replacing the fleet of trains operating these routes.

Eurostar orders first double-decker trains
They would be the first two-level high-speed trains to run through the Channel Tunnel.

First thing I thought when reading about this developing tragedy was “I wonder if the Russians did it?”

The BBC has many more important structural problems, but this is an example of the most visible issues it has. Absolutely no need for any sort of notification of this, it barely qualifies as news.

Thought I would jump on the recent workplace trend of using AI to enhance/add professionalism to my profile pic. Was having issues with it not working at all- most results were of generic Caucasian men. Thought I’d see if it could recognise any black faces…

Leaving your 16 year old daughter behind as you embark on a round the world trip with her favoured younger sister in an attempt to become travel blog influencers. Not saying if/when you’ll return to see her. Top quality parenting right here.
I’m surprised I was able to read to the end of this, given how far back in my head it made my eyes roll. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

This is effective advice that so many British people don’t seem to know or even understand when told.
Now then people of Britain, windows open nice and wide for now, remember to close them by 11am, and your curtains as needed depending on which way they face. Do not come whining to me about being “too hot” at 4pm when you’ve sat there with your windows and blinds open all day.

This is not a drill. JD Vance is now on BlueSky. All hands to the block button, this is not a drill.

I’ve learned so many things from this thread, it’s the gift that keeps on giving.
What’s the slowest burn on you realising something? I think with me it’s working out what the “lithic” in Neolithic means which - despite me reading the word at a bare minimum thousands of times *and* me being aware of other connected lith words - just didn’t click until about 18 months back.

I don’t have a copy of The Art of The Deal to hand. Which chapter covers getting the local National Guard to shoot tear gas and pepper balls at the press corps?
Nat Guard/DHS threw tear gas canisters and smoke grenades into the crowd. Protesters and media hit. Pellet rounds deployed. All to seemingly clear path for a convoy of DHS/Border Patrol vehicles. I got hit but fine after an eye rinse.

Sad indictment on our society that the BBC now feels it necessary to state the skin colour of someone arrested for this sort of crime.
