Some of the quotes from “experts” are dubious too- the idea that running a train with twice the amount of passengers on board would not increase operating costs doesn’t pass the smell test.

Nowhere in the press release does it state, as the BBC article does, that London services would increase by 30%. It states fleet numbers would increase by that amount, and given that fleet isn’t solely for cross channel use, it’s not clear how we arrive at the stated increase in London services.
