There are still a few more days left in Pride, so I just want to take a moment to let everyone know that my book about lingerie, In Intimate Detail, is gender-neutral and contains intimate apparel advice for trans folks, disabled folks, and other communities. Available wherever books are sold! 🌈

"Unlike other industries, these dresses cannot be made in the United States," the National Bridal Retailers Association wrote earlier this year in a lobbying letter, "as there is zero labor pool of skilled craftsmen that can hand-bead gowns with as many as 200,000 sequins, beads, and crystals."

Last semester, I had the opportunity to take a class on costume design in fantasy, sci-fi, and supernatural film and television. And for my final project, I chose to analyze the costumes in Jem and The Holograms! ✨

My first academic article is live!!

Published with Fashion Studies, “What is a ‘Worth’ Worth? Developing a Methodology of Historical to Modern Day Price Conversions for Dress” asks how we can better explain clothing prices in the past to people in the present. The approach explored is wage data.

Quick reminder that clothes will be affected by these tariffs too. America does not produce anything related to the garment industry at a scale sufficient to clothe all Americans. That will not change because it’s easier to raise prices than resurrect an entire industry.

One of my favorite things about FIT is how you can just open a random box in the lab and there’s an 18th century robe a la francaise chilling for research and practice purposes

Shared what I thought was a funny story from school and people started taking it VERY SERIOUSLY, so had to delete that. The vibes were getting a little too close to Twitter, and I refuse to bring the spirit of overexplaining over here.

Really exciting semester ahead for my last term of full time coursework. Taking classes on contemporary fashion (basically fashion journalism), costume in fantasy & sci-fi, independent study (topic is secret for now), and also working on the MFIT exhibition “All That Glitters,” debuting in February!
