Visa is now actively shutting down calls regarding their censorship and prohibition of the sale of legal product.

They clearly retrained their staff on how to deal with our calls. That doesn't happen unless there's critical mass.

KEEP IT UP. They are trying to turf the calls as fast as they can.

We're not in theoretical "they could come after sfw queer content LATER" territory anymore. It is being used to come after sfw queer content NOW.

Spread this around, send the article to any and every news outlet/content creator you can think of. The alarms need to be sounded

And KEEP CALLING

Same during my call- the wording I used was “non-explicit, legal, non-adult LGBT content”, and I got back the response that “yes, stripe is blocking this. We’re a private company, we make our own rules about it.” Was hung up on when I asked why.

and to be clear, i was very clear in asking "can i use stripe for purchases of LGBT content" and both times, different operators have told me that Stripe does not support such transactions

theyre not even playing the "oh our brand doesnt discriminate!" song and dance

remember to call Stripe at 1+ 888-926-2289, and say youre from "California" when prompted. try to get clarification on where Stripe stands on LGBTQ content on online storefronts

twice today, when pressured, Stripe operators have said, plainly, that i cannot use stripe for the purchase of LGBTQ content. not just adult content, but explicitly LGBTQ.

Stripe's phone operators have been sounding much more aggressive the past few days, and every time i call they give me a different excuse for who the "real" reason theyre pressuring Itch etc. Some days they say its govt regulations (they wont say which) others they say Visa/MC

As someone that worked in banking, using the terms "lodging complaint" is absolutely vital, a lot of places have laws that FORCE financial institutes to investigate and resolve every single "complaint" lodged with them. It used to be my job, and enough of them can cause a lot of havoc.

it isn't normal that simply passing money from point a to point b - a huge & necessary part of everybody's lives - is controlled by companies motivated by profit. the root issue isn't the sites being targeted - it's the government policies that have allowed these monopolies to occur.

the adult content bans spreading through the en-speaking sphere now have already "happened" as such in japan, with visa/mastercard putting pressure on jp sites like dlsite & melonbooks.

many sites ended up stopping visa/mastercard payments entirely to keep the adult content on their sites up.

this is possible in japan because there are still alternative payment processors (jcb as another credit card for one, & other options like paypay, convenience store payment, &c.)

but this happens at the same time the japan fair trade commission was inspecting visa for an anti-monopoly law.

Here’s a short script:
“Hello, my name is _____, and I would like to file a complaint. I find it troubling that Mastercard is blocking content on (the platforms you use) and making it difficult for me to make legal purchases. I am going to stop using Mastercard if this isn’t rescinded and fixed."
Maybe we could find out.

Mastercard (US): 1-800-627-8372
Mastercard (Int.): +1-636-722-7111
Visa (US + Can): 1 800 847 2911
Visa (AUS): 1 800 125 440
PayPal: +44-0203-901-7000
Collective Shout, the group that took credit for bullying Mastercard into recently censoring more platforms, stated that apparently it took them ~1000 phonecalls to convince them to give them what they wanted?

We got like way more people than that don't we?

ok then. one angle of attack then needs to be actively bombarding Visa and Mastercard's phone numbers and emails.

are customer support phone numbers/emails the best avenue to start with or is there a better option?
