Know your rights, Minnesota.

Stay peaceful and don’t give the Trump Administration a reason to escalate their theatrics. We’re with you.

This is so gross. Anyone who has lived in Minnesota (Minneapolis/St. Paul specifically) will tell you that the Somali population there is among the kindest and hardest-working people you'll ever meet.
Trump on Minnesota's Somali community: "They contribute nothing. I don't want them in our country, I'll be honest with you."

No person is garbage. I live in Minnesota and I'm glad our Somali neighbors are here.

We welcome support in investigating and prosecuting crime. But pulling a PR stunt and indiscriminately targeting immigrants is not a real solution to a problem.

Elon Musk’s new pay package would feed all forty million Americans on SNAP for the next ten years. He wouldn’t notice the difference but the country would.

100% this
Walz: "We have a federal system that we're all in it together, we help other states when they need it, but we have a situation where they're trying to divide us & provide specific aid to states that they like at the moment, which is absolutely unconscionable... either that or give us our money back"

One in eight Americans will struggle to put food on the table if the Trump shutdown extends through next week.

Yet Republicans in Congress are nowhere to be found.

Tell them it's time to clock back in—because they work for us:

There are so many heartbreaking and infuriating things going on, but the thought of starving SNAP recipients makes me physically ill. As normal, HCR is right -what are we doing here??

MAGA's arrogance, thinking that there was no reason for anything that they want to destroy, no wisdom that ever predated them to make things how they were.
Rules of engagement is what protects our forces, and American civilians, as well
Hegseth: "We unleash overwhelming and punishing violence on the enemy. We also don't fight with stupid rules of engagement. We untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate, demoralize, hunt, and kill the enemies of our country. No more politically correct and overbearing rules of engagement."

The last political column I was allowed to write in the @washingtonpost.com was a criticism of Obama.

His people took issue with my piece, but we were respectful.

Now he is tweeting in support of me.

This is how free political speech and respect for debate *actually works*.

Or used to work.

Political violence is evil, killing people is evil, a country with more guns in it than people is broken, and what the government is saying about political violence right now being a primarily leftwing phenomenon is factually, statistically untrue. They are using this moment to rewrite history.

So many "we are not the same" memes on both sides. Do we as individuals truly believe that the bulk of people on the opposite side of the aisle are evil? Perhaps instead we should be asking who benefits from creating that impression?

Here's something I see a lot that really bothers me. It has two parts: 1) describing people in a particular group as though they're all the same, and then 2) operating as though the most inflammatory people who identify with that group must speak for everyone else in it.

I appreciate Mr. Cox's statement in this terrible time. All of us as human beings deserve to be free from political violence.
Spencer Cox: "Our nation is broken. We had political assassinations recently in Minnesota. We had an attempted assassination on the gov of Pennsylvania. And we had an attempted assassination on a president. Nothing I say can unite us as a country. Nothing I can say right now can fix what is broken"

Trump is ending rule of law in America and the rules-based order around the world.

Always seemed to the central thrust of his project this time and it was has been far more successful than many are willing to admit now.
J. Sotomayor dissent: "The Government, and now the concurrence, has all but declared that all Latinos, U. S. citizens or not, who work low wage jobs are fair game to be seized at any time, taken away from work, and held until they provide proof of their legal status to the agents’ satisfaction."
#BREAKING: With no explanation (save for a solo concurrence by Justice Kavanaugh), #SCOTUS has frozen lower-court rulings that had enjoined allegedly suspicion-less arrests as part of "roving" immigration patrols in California.

Justice Sotomayor, joined by Justices Kagan and Jackson, dissents:

I have the same questions.
Tim Walz: "Where are the don't tread on me people? You are being tread on every single day. These folks are enriching themselves. The most successful thing he's done is grift off the American people."
