Was one of the posters on that account you maybe followed on the other platform.
This is an excellent summary of Sabir’s comments, but the missing thing is that Janis Iwrin is absolutely *seething* in the background. Like absolutely furious.
(on youtube now)
Sabir: I heard from my own constituents and from a teacher in Airdrie; for six years, the UCP has treated teachers with disrespect, first with our pensions, funding, refusing to collect class size data. If the NDP forms the next govt I hope you can show that education matters in AB.

Danielle Smith and the UCP’s Bill 1 is literally Labour Convention Reference (1937) UKPC 6 repackaged and presented as some landmark drawing a line in the sand in federalism.

Lord Akin literally said this was the case almost 90 years ago!

You will of course note that pretty much unanimously democratic lawmakers and left leaning commentators are denouncing in the strongest terms political violence but you wouldn’t get that impression from various conservative commentators.
Very, very bad stuff coming from leading right-wingers

Banning Margret Atwood’s The Handmaids Tale is a bit on the nose even for the UCP.
Teachers: we really need supports for complex needs in classrooms, lower class sizes, better working conditions, and appropriate funding

UCP: best we can do is a book ban

Did my part and signed @lukaszukab.bsky.social #ForeverCanada petition today.

The Separatists were also there (all three of them!) My wife wouldn’t let me go have a constructive dialogue with them.

Six months in and the Dems have finally woken up it seems.

The Jubilee videos are bad not because of the format (although it is bad) but because literally only one side benefits and it’s the “openly Nazi/racist/christian fascist” side because they get their insane views in front of people who would never be exposed to them outside.

Trevor, what the hell are you doing there lending credibility to this?
Panelist Dr. Trevor Tombe says the equalization program is there to support provinces that have a hard time raising revenues, but it's been a long time since the program has been looked at.

Nickelback is actually one of the best Canadian bands of all time.
What's your hottest take about Canada?

Look, I didn’t have super high hopes for the Alberta Next Panel, but with some of the names associated with it, I was cautiously optimistic.

Doing the survey now (after watching the 3 min propaganda video to get to it), that optimism is gone.

It’s indicative of how poorly prepared the Democratic leadership is for this moment when Schumer’s statement is ambiguous as to whether his proposed use of theWar Powers Act is meant to oppose Trump’s actions or retroactively authorize them.
Schumer puts out a statement: "We must enforce the War Powers Act, and I’m urging Leader Thune to put it on the Senate floor immediately. I am voting for it and implore all Senators on both sides of the aisle to vote for it."

This 15 year old has a better appreciation and understanding of the meaning of sport than a majority of adults who go watch their kids participate.

Sport is about being part of a community that supports you in pushing yourself.
this is a letter to the editor from a high school track runner who came in second to a trans girl in a race. her state house rep in maine started talking about it. so she wrote this: www.pressherald.com/2025/05/14/r...

The suggestion that Alberta is going to separate from Canada and Albertans keep their Canadian passports and CPP entitlements absolutely ridiculous.

Turns out the tone that gets RTs and likes from terminally online partisans does not play well with average people.

Whoever could have known this?
“I don’t think we anticipated as much of the pushback from baby boomers, if you will, as far as the tone goes,” Greg McLean, the Conservative MP recently re-elected in Calgary Centre, told the Star’s Althia Raj.

“I can tell you seniors’ homes did not like the tone”
Conservative insiders say they need to sell Pierre Poilievre’s ‘softer side’ to voters next time
Nearly two weeks after a bitter election defeat, the Conservative party has turned its sights to its next chapter: rolling out tone shifts, a renewed media strategy, and the reintroduction

Just so we’re clear, Trump is about 4 executive orders away from ordering tariffs on all non American workers on national security grounds.
Trump says movies produced outside the U.S. are a national security threat. So he’s imposing a 100% tariff on all movies that are “produced in foreign lands.”

The children don’t need 30 dolls because the children yearn for the mines.
Trump: "I don't think a beautiful baby girl that's 11 years old needs to have 30 dolls. I think they can have three dolls or four dolls ... they don't need to have 250 pencils. They can have five."

Fundamentally the core of the Tate brothers appeal is they provide a clear and easy path to being lazy while pretending otherwise.

“Women and minorities deserve rights” is not at all confusing or contradictory to “be competitive in sports” if you engage in any amount of thought.
Essay: A senior at an all boys high school on the appeal of the Tate brothers: In a confusing time for young men, they offer “answers that are appealingly simple.”
Essay | Boys at My High School Love the Tate Brothers. Here’s Why.
In this confusing time for young men, we take our role models where we can find them.

Pierre Poilievre will look to continue his career as an MP, this time in Alberta.

Fire everyone on the Debate Commission for both creating these rules and rolling over off a terribly drafted demand letter.
People keep asking why far-right alternative media outlets got to ask so many questions

The reason, once again, is because Rebel threatened to go to court and get an injunction. The Debates Commission backed down and agreed to let Rebel have one person from each of its regional "divisions"

Part of the reason we are in this fascist mess is the media has been terrible for years now on framing stories.

It’s irrelevant whether Garcia is “father of the year”: he was denied due process. Focus on *that*/why it’s bad, not the emotional appeals that give the other side easy talking points.
Leavitt describes Abrego Garcia as "hiding in Maryland" and says, "based on the sensationalism of many of the people in this room, you would think we deported a candidate for father of the year"
