This is a sideline project from my actual day job, the idea is to focus on the largely unreported events primarily in the Sahel but also covering other countries in North Africa.
I am occasionally offline, I do occasionally miss events (tips are welcome via DM).
Questions are ALWAYS welcome.
Three hostages held by the JNIM in Mali were released after a record ransom, estimated between 50 and 70 million dollars.
Malian authorities also negotiated the release of terrorist prisoners in exchange for allowing fuel convoys to reach the capital.

Mahmud Barry, JNIM spokesman, released an audio message ordering the residents of Léré to leave the town by the 26.10, warning residents that if they come to harm that they only have themselves to blame for not respecting the conditions for lifting the siege of the town.

There are reports that 02 Emiratis kidnapped by JNIM in September have been freed following negotiations and a 'large ransom', apparently $50 million.
Other reports state that 20 JNIM prisoners were also freed.

A report from Radio France Internationale a US national Kevin Rideout was reportedly kidnapped by three men near the grand Bravia Hotel, in the city center, just a few hundred meters from the presidential palace.

Following an attack on the 27.10 JNIM returned to the village complex of Kossouka attacking the village of Yamsindé, in Yatenga province.
A casualty count is unavailable, but reported to be significant.
