A garden variety ninja, trying to go unnoticed. Mostly.

Likes: Reading, walking, cycles, cycling, amateur radio, music, Hi-Fi

Dislikes: Neoliberalism, death by car, death by climate change, prospect of WW3
To Zwift this evening or not Zwift this evening.

That's the pressing question circling my brain at the moment.

Make this go viral.

Labour MP Louise Haigh.
I call on my party and my government to remove themselves entirely from X and communicate with the public where they actually participate online and can be protected from such illegality.

I think it is time world leaders start sanctioning the USA until Trump is removed from power.

My Public Highways Safety Strategy would:

* Outlaw extreme hardship defences against driving bans as a result of totting up 12 penalty points

* Make lifetime driving bans the default for any driver whose negligence is demonstrated to take a life

UK Government's Road Safety Strategy sums up LINO. A lofty ambition backed by soft measures that will barely move the needle, let alone achieve the ambition.

They have carved up the measures in the strategy into such small niches that for the average road user, it is business (or risk) as usual.

Broke my wrist.

Falling out of bed.
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

😅

What do you say to a person who complains about a 10 minute car journey taking 90 minutes because of the weather?

Is it wrong to send them links to YakTrax and Schwalbe Winter tyres without further comment?

No doubt the very same people who don't give a flying fig as to what traffic congestion and traffic violence cost us every year will be up in arms about school closures etc. today.

The simplest way for everyone in the US to protest this imperial action is to stop using oil.

Ride your bike for all short trips, switch to an EV, car pool to use less. It also saves you money.

I started using my bike for everything in the early 2000’s to divorce myself from the Iraq oil war.

We refused to stop trump's lawlessness at home and now he kidnaps foreign leaders. This is what happens when you don't hold a malignant narcissist accountable. Nothing is sacred to him except power and money. This is not defense. It is theft. Refuse the lies. Name it. #MaduroKidnapping

Not owning many cassettes, I have just sadly put my mid-90s Yamaha cassette deck on ebay.

Sad times.

Played a cassette to make a video showing that it is in good working order. First time since I bought the current amp and speakers. Sounded far better than it had any right to.

When analysis is not analysis.

Let's come back to this when there is some actual data in what the LTN has done shall we? Rather than what a newspaper with an agenda says it 'will' do.

An AI chatbot does not have PERSONHOOD. It has no agency. It cannot meaningfully apologise. It cannot speak on behalf of another. It cannot speak for itself; it has no self. Stop asking it for quotes for articles. Stop printing its quotes.

Is anyone, please, able to recommend a walking shoe or boot that:

* is and will remain waterproof
* suits a neutral gait
* has a wideish toe box
* costs less than £100
* will last at least 500 miles before self-destructing

Thank you

Highlight of this morning's dog walk was observing the driver of K1 HDC, a Ford Transit Connect with 'Happy Days Coaches' sign writing, driving with an iced up windscreen.

This driver literally could not see where he was driving, yet continued to drive anyway.

A project that began as an idea and became something much bigger: a community-run act of creativity.

The book is now public. It’s yours.

"The actor already had nine points for speeding in April 2023, running a red light in February 2025, and driving without due care and attention in April 2025."

If a driver has 9 points on their license, you'd think they would be careful not to tot up 3 more.
Colin Salmon: EastEnders actor 'grateful' to avoid driving ban for speeding
Colin Salmon was shown leniency by the court because he cares for his seriously ill wife and daughter.

Not particularly big numbers.

Just shy of 3000 km dog walking.
4300 km cycling.

2400 km driven. 800 km of which was covered by just two trips in December.

I reckon there were at least 345 non-driving days.

Well, 2025 sucked.

And 2026 is probably going to suck harder.

That's the trajectory chosen for us when the worlds powers chase economic gains without recognition that the planet cannot sustain any more growth.

Happy New Year everyone.
