We need 42 bikes then?
One of each, conventional and electrically assisted.

When the anti-cycling element bring up fridges, it is a self-own their arguments are baseless and made in bad faith.

*Most my bikes have a rear rack and a couple are set up to tow trailers when required. I'd have a cargo bike if I had the space available.

It is amazing to think how two ton steel raincoats have been normalised.
Yet traffic pollution means children attending schools near heavily used roads never achieve their full lung capacity and thus endure shorter life expectancies.
Children who actively travel perform better than peers.

Yes. And yes. Spiked tyres for grip in snow and ice.
You do know that not everyone drives and not everyone owns a car?

When my kids were small, they loved to ride in the cycle trailer.
When they grew up, they learned to propel themselves.
These days we have cargo bikes.

I think they are fixed with two or four hex head bolts from seat tube side of the seat stay.
Might need the wheel/fender out of the way for clearance. Might be able to rotate it around and pull it through the spokes if frame doesn't have clearance to remove it with the wheel etc. in situ.

Was contemplating taking the wheel lock off my bike, because I usually use one or two D locks and it seems superfluous.
Might do so now.
Sorry this happened to you.

The thing is, I actually like cars.
I just don't like them used inappropriately, which is most of rhe time.
I would rather have readily available well ventilated public transport and good walking and cycling infrastructure, coupled with locally available amenities and public services.

And how many drivers will stop at a zebra crossing, let alone wait for pedestrians to fully clear? Compliance is low.
And yes, puffin crossings are set up exactly that way. Pelican crossings that don't are no longer approved for installation in the UK.

It has traffic signals which will remain red until all the crossing users have cleared.
Make silly comments, expect to be patronised.

Amber means stop by the way. Stop if is safe to do so. It is not a forewarning. That's train signals.

If there is a variable delay, typically up to thirty seconds, you cannot do that nearly so effectively.
And making things more convenient for drivers makes them less so for non-drivers.

As a driver, if you see a pedestrian at a crossing and you know therefore those lights are going to change, you can immediately lift off the accelorator and start slowing the car down well in advance of the crossing and still jave some momentum left when the signal goes green again.

Signals changing immediately is much more predictable. Something drivers can more easily anticipate.
And more people walking, wheeling and cycling is more preferable than people driving.
