Once was the time when we understood that control of the commons was the key to well-being, inc our tech.
The oligarchs had run out of land to steal, so now started stealing tech... A new form of enclosure economics which became known as 'capitalism'.

I've never seen anything more drawn out and so heavily padded as Pluribus, but it is still captivating. Great premise.

#OtD 26 Dec 1862 the largest mass execution in US history took place when 38 Native American Dakota people were hanged. Some trials lasted less than five minutes, and Pres Lincoln personally reviewed the trial paperwork and approved the death penalty stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/9808...

The UK gov gearing up for another oil grab. All in the name of democracy, don't you know. This is who we are, this is what we do. Our modus operandi for hundreds of years. This is why we spend billions on military. The main reason for our wealth is because we steal it.

Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

Capitalism still has that one enduring, tantalising seduction... The thrill of private ownership of something big; like land, a house, or even a car. I see people change when they achieve this. They convey a sense of being 'more adult' than those who don't own big things like them.

This is how organisations like the BBC manufacture consent.

As heartbreaking as it is to read Ince's reasons for his resignation, I'm glad more people can be made more aware of how bad the BBC is.
Don't pay the licence, people. Force change.
Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

Luddites didn't hate tech, they were against enclosure of tech (defining feature of capitalism) into 'dark satanic mills'. Where workers would lose control of production & reduced/forced into selling their labour. Their cause was widely supported, because people saw commons enclosure as the problem.

why is non coersive family planning, reproductive rights, contraceptive availability, overshoot awareness & ecological education not part of degrowth? considering the climate & extinction crisis it seems important as problems of consumption, corporations, wealth inequality & political change?

Labor’s become the party of symbolic progress: flags, diversity panels, and feel-good language while the economic screws tighten. Cultural gestures up top, neoliberalism underneath. It’s liberal identity politics dressed as a workers’ party.
