A shutdown in this context is a propaganda war, just like the one they did over ACA subsidies. Except this time instead of saying "We did this because they won't fund health care" you say "We did this because they're killing you in the streets with impunity"
One irony here: a shutdown won't shut down ICE or the Border Patrol, which got massive infusion of money last year in the GOP's 'One Big Beautiful Bill,' and the White House would surely deem these operations 'essential.'
