If we build it (protected, connected & maintained bike infrastructure), the bikes will come. Even when it’s cold (this was at 24°F), even when it’s snowy & icy.
On a 5 block walk along Bryant tonight I saw 7 people on bikes, 6 pedestrians and 4 cars (all w/ 1 passenger each).

We do not discuss — in fact, we actively forget — that the US has only had real democracy (however imperfect) since circa 1965, with the passage of the Voting Rights and Civil Rights acts… and there’s been an active backlash ever since.
Ms. Sullivan, in answer, asserts that Americans ultimately value their democracy, and will defend it if they know that it’s threatened. But the last 8 years shows that a lot fewer Americans feel that way than we might have once thought.

When you’re dealing with someone who causes harm and you suggest ignoring them, there’s an overlooked cruelty to that approach — it shuts down the conversation for the people harmed. It denies people the space to be heard, which is important for progress and justice

🍄📸 Can the internet explain why the chicken of the woods grow every year on the grass instead of at the base or near trees? Or is this just as common? There used to be a large white pine near and there is a fairy ring each year a great distance circling where the stump was.

Community colleges are the best, should be universally free, and should be staffed almost entirely by full-time well compensated employees.
Yesterday I visited a community college campus that is in an old mall. Weird but cool seeing that type of former commercial space transformed for education.
