Such an important piece from @bakerdphd.bsky.social on the crackdown on students and faculty at colleges. "This is not solely a “red state” or “southern” problem," she writes, with numerous examples from schools like Stanford and Brooklyn College. www.insidehighered.com/opinion/colu...

Is this it?
For Trump to put his name on the Kennedy Center and other federal buildings is not only arrogant and narcissistic, it is illegal.

We must put an end to sitting presidents naming buildings after themselves — and that’s what my bill does.

sigh
It would be a mistake to see Trumpism as authoritarianism imposed on an unwilling nation, as opposed to authoritarianism implemented in a nation with a plurality that is already made up of authoritarian bootlickers who created the context for Trumpism to thrive.

Going to be easy to purge them. Anyone left after 4 yeasts is a Nazi
As resignations like this take place, we're ending up with a harder and harder core of fbi/doj willing to do whatever the president wants, no matter how egregious.
This is appalling: Top DOJ officials are actively pushing for a criminal investigation into the widow of Renee Good, leading prosecutors to quit en masse, NYT is reporting.

Who in the White House ordered DOJ to do this? That's the next thing to establish.

Republicans think the minimum wage is too generous
Some House floor drama as Republicans are currently losing a vote on a bill to let employers to exclude workforce education and development training from minimum wage and overtime calculations. Labor-friendly R's (there are a few, sometimes) voting no, Johnson huddling with them for ~30 mins now

The success of ICE watch interfering with ICE’s mission is almost certainly why DHS keeps sending more agents to Minneapolis.

They used to execute their raids with just a few agents. Now they need 6-12 to even begin to disrupt the social pressure to be nonviolent.

Read this poem

I won’t tell you why
Really, really happy to have a new poem in one of the first literary journals I ever read as a teen trying to find poems in the world. Here’s “After A Few Beers, My Uncle Asks Me How” in The Southern Review.

The problem is that Dem lawmakers will use trump’s previous losses to say its not a serious threat and continue working with their friends across the aisle
The Trump administration has already (in both Trump 1.0 and Trump 2.0) lost MULTIPLE lawsuits on this issue.

Looks like they're getting ready to lose even more of them.

In the After School Special version, senior congressional GOPers would be like “Oh fuck! Oh fuck! Our boy is shitting the bed like he’s got three assholes. We gotta shut this down”

In the real world, nothing like that is going on

Bill Ackman should face protest whenever he tries to use our public spaces
NEW: It appears billionaire Bill Ackman has donated $10k to a GoFundMe for Jonathan Ross, the ICE agent who killed Renee Good.

Ackman has reposted the fundraiser but hasn’t posted about his own donation.

It should be bigger news that masked agents were filmed hours ago removing potentially inculpatory evidence from the ICE shooter's house, clearly lacking evidence tags or chain of custody stickers.

Before we have word on whether he underwent a toxicology screen at the hospital following the killing

Is there a national Dem making this an issue? This isn’t like the ok sign, a single, deniable thing. You could make a 100 slide presentation of side-by-side “this is the admin”/“this is Nazi”
“We’ll Have Our Home” again is a song that’s extremely popular with white nationalists. It’s all over Telegram. I think the first time I heard it was from a video of a secretive group called the Mannerbünd.
