Public libraries are fucking awesome, and something we should all be proud this country actually decided to do. With so much terrible history, this is an unmitigated good, and librarians are a pretty amazing example of what public service can be. Give them love.
Some people don't know this so it's worth saying out loud that Public libraries are free to use. And even if you have never used a library, the librarians at your local library will be very happy to see you and help you get started.

It occurred to me today that the LLM developers OKing felonious chatbots might be social darwinists
If we (as a society) had decent safeguards in place, the LLMs would already have been shut down by now, *before* anyone actually harmed themselves and/or others with the assistance of chatbots. This should be caught by the developers. It probably is, and they launch anyway.

There are lots of sounds humans make that I find irritating or disgusting (misophonia), but don't mind when other animals make them. Eating corn on the cob is maybe the only exception: always gross. Can't ignore the association with the visual of the cob after the kernels have been removed... 🤢
