Oh hey, H5N1 in Texas dairy cows! Are you a new spillover or have you always been there, undetected b/c of insufficient testing?

It’s migration season, almost flu season, & we’ve never had a handle on the cow outbreak. Bird flu is here & we ignore at our peril

Remember the Boars Head listeria outbreak that killed 10 people & made 60+ ill? Well a key CDC program will no longer be monitoring for listeria & other foodborne illnesses. Without early detection & intervention—more people will get seriously sick & die.
The CDC quietly scaled back a surveillance program for foodborne illnesses
As of July 1, a critical surveillance program is monitoring for only two pathogens instead of the usual eight.

The CDC Buried a Measles Forecast That Stressed the Need for Vaccinations
The move — along with the CDC’s explanation — is a sign that the nation’s top public health agency may be falling in line under HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a longtime critic of vaccines.
