Gov has published the Public Health Grant allocations for local authorities in England for 2026/27.

The grant, managed by Directors of Public Health, is spent on a range of local public health initiatives.

Nearly 40% of cancer cases are preventable.

The National Cancer Plan is welcome, but we must ensure long-term measures that we know will help prevent cancers resulting from consumption of products like tobacco, alcohol & unhealthy food, are introduced at pace.

🤒 Measles is a very serious illness.

💉 The best protection is the MMR vaccine, which is safe, effective & free.

There is clearly more to be done to raise awareness of how serious measles can be, particularly to the very young, during pregnancy, and for those with underlying health conditions.
UKHSA responds to the confirmation from @WHO that the UK has lost its measles elimination status.
