This afternoon Cllrs Fran Victory, Christine Wild and I met with a fabulous group of Worcester Uni first year journalism students and tutors. We spent 2hrs discussing a range of local and national issues & it was interesting to hear their thoughts and views. What an impressive group of young people

BREAKING

Defend Our Juries website taken down as attack on freedom of speech worsens - blocking access to important legal info for protestors.

This is what happens when the Government uses anti-terror law to silence dissent.

What a fabulous way to start the day, our first Malvern Bike Bus!
We started off with 3 children and 8 adults, with more joining as we made the journey from Somers Park to Northleigh.
In total 6 children and 10 adults took part.
I can’t wait for the next one 💚

This month I attended 18 meetings and training sessions.
I was proud to Chair my first formal panel meeting at WCC. There was an awkward moment when I had to challenge the CMR for Education.
I attended West Fest, volunteered with Malvern Green Space as well as attending the weekly peace vigil.

This headline is a lie, these words were never spoken / chanted.
Why is the focus on investigating performers rather than the daily brutal genocide against innocent, desperate people?
If you are more bothered by artists than atrocities, there is something wrong with you.

The increasing normalisation of nuclear weapons is deeply dangerous & sends message to all other countries that security depends on acquiring weapons of mass destruction. Oh & the bombs are owned & use controlled by US alone. What could possibly go wrong?

I utterly condemn the reckless attack on Iran by the United States that can only lead to further dangerous conflict in an already volatile region. There is no international legal basis for this unilateral action that poses a serious threat to international peace and security.

Locality CEO Tony Armstrong responds to the #SpendingReview:

“It's disappointing to see the absence of funding for community ownership. Renewal can only happen with direct involvement of local people. Govt must set out a clear way forward on how to put community power at the top of the agenda.”

I challenged the govt on two fatal flaws in the Planning & Infrastructure Bill: it contains no social housing target, so it won’t deliver the affordable homes communities desperately need, and it weakens nature protections, further enriching big property developers at the environment's expense.

Take one minute: go to bit.ly/IsraelOnNotice and send a letter to the Israeli government, UN officials, and diplomatic missions demanding that Israel abide by international law and refrain from attacking, sabotaging or otherwise interfering with the #Madleen and her mission.

This is outrageous. The UK is one of the most nature depleted countries on Earth. The government should be increasing nature protections, not undermining them.

Really happy to be working with @sheltercharity.bsky.social to make the case for much stronger government action on social housing. The government has set targets for overall house building; why not targets for desperately needed social rented housing?

I've tabled two crucial amendments to the Planning & Infrastructure Bill: enforcing an “overall improvement test" or — if govt keep weakening nature protection — striking out Part 3 so they have to rewrite it. Report Stage is in June; the govt must fix the issues with this Bill before then.

Since the partial suspension of export licences in September 2024, the UK has exported over 8000 individual munitions, 150,000 bullets and 299 "tanks and other armored fighting vehicles" to Israel.

Continuing to arm a genocidal regime is indefensible.

The UK must end ALL arms sales to Israel.

It was fabulous to see so many people, of all ages, at the #kites4palestine event on Malvern Link Common this afternoon.
Each of us was flying a kite in the memory of a child who has been the victim of genocide in Gaza.

I’m backing @elliechowns.bsky.social
and @adrianramsay.bsky.social
to be the next leaders of The Green Party.
Their actions as MP’s have rightly earned them respect and wide appeal. Their calm, common sense approach is powerful.

WTF? If this Government can’t even agree to this smallest of initiatives, which has no cost to them & absolutely no down-sides, what hope that it will step up to the bigger nature challenges we face? This is a *popular* policy, for heavens sake. Obstinate tin-eared stupidity doesn’t come close …
