We can all get things wrong, but if I had been this consistently and catastrophically wrong about such important issues I don't think I could carry on publishing my opinions every week.

I'd want to go away and think about how I'd so badly misunderstood the things I write about.

How we draw the age of Trump and turmoil: two cartoonists go head-to-head | Martin Rowson and Ella Baron
Martin Rowson has been drawing for the Guardian since the 1980s; Ella Baron since 2022. In paint and pixels, each is tasked with capturing the chaos and absurdity of our political moment

Trump's speech lasted 70 minutes. That's 3 minutes longer than the silent German expressionist masterpiece, The Cabinet of Dr Caligari. And much like that film - he was weird and nightmarish while saying nothing at all.

I need you to listen to these people.

For the past few months, I’ve been trying to get off US tech and I put together a guide so you find alternatives too. I hope you find it helpful!

In between stressing on BlueSky about the collapse of the world order, I run a rewilding charity and we had a great morning looking for harvest mice on our most recent acquired site.
We’ve found harvest mice at other sites in our network but it’s great to see them here too. We’ll be looking for more in the future as well. If you’ve not seen one they are beautiful and the only mammal in Britain with a prehensile tail. They climb like little monkeys.
