@invisiblethemes.bsky.social I noticed this link - this song has the line "let's fast forward to a few years later" and is about an industry creep. #gaylor #friendsOfDorothea

I will forever repost the fact that the study was FRAUDULENT!
Today is Retraction Day, when we observe the anniversary of the retraction (Feb. 2, 2010) of the fraudulent paper that purported to show a link between vaccines and autism. 🧪#medsky

Brand New ABA, 2025.
Do Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) teams target e.g. stimming in autistic people?
When asked, they tell us that they do not do so any more.
But, in this survey of 170 of them, it turns out they do.
A lot.
Who's unsurprised?

Today has been spent preparing the documents for my confirmation/transfer panel - and it's one of those times where all the 'thinking' time of PhD research actually shows. All those months of reading/thinking finally have a physical pay out. 😂

Any sleep experts/sleep researchers that could weigh in on this: my son has been tracking his sleep - he's autistic and has ADHD and has always had trouble sleeping. The pic below is his sleep pattern for this year (left is midnight, to 11:59 on the right). #academicSky

Please take a look at this important survey on #disability and #employment
I’m doing research into the experiences of disabled people looking for employment. I’d be grateful if you could share this survey with people it might be of interest to. The survey is at:

Today is the kind of day where being autistic and chronically ill collide. I'm having a bad pain day, which means I'm overstimulated and so in a constant state of one tiny thing triggering a meltdown.

Presents are wrapped (well the ones I could find - ADHD makes Christmas *interesting*). Picking our son up soon and then we're gonna spend the next couple of days eating, playing games and watching Christmas TV. Happy Holidays from my family to you and yours.

I think it's a safe bet that the reduction will be even greater among disabled people - including autistic people, who are currently several times more likely to die by suicide than the population at large.
Universal Basic Income will likely significantly reduce suicide rates according to this huge study: "Those receiving [the cash] had a 61% lower risk of being a suicide victim than non-beneficiaries. The results were more pronounced among women and young individuals."

Disabled students don’t benefit from the plagiarism machine.

1) Profs will stop openly sharing notes, slides, etc.

2) Disabled students will be forced disclose access needs & request accomms.

3) Disability offices will be more overworked & underpaid.

4) Less disabled students will have access.
Recently talked to a student who admitted to using ChatGPT as a study device - by feeding it all of the class lecture slides and having it generate summaries. So now OpenAI has ownership of all the slides my co-instructor and I created from scratch…

Spent the day reading while the husband plays The Witcher 3. This is why I married the nerdy gamer boy - coz he doesn't mind me reading for hours.

This is adorable! Well done Dr Richard and the newly minted Dr.
Having one of your supervisees, who always called you 'Dr Richard', starting an email with 'Dear Richard' as soon as their award is finalised feels like a win.

Of course I responded with 'Dear Dr....'

After yesterday's awesome AuDHD experience - today I have spent all day so far stuck doom scrolling because executive-dysfunction. It's 3pm and my brain is stuck in "cannot start anything" mode. 😂 Being neurodivergent is not for the weak. 😂

One of the things I love most about being AuDHD is that 'rest' for my brain looks like spending the day indulging in a special interest - so although I did productive stuff today, I also rested.
