A personal post from me. This week we'll be saying goodbye to my Mum, who passed last month. She was the most incredible lady, gentle, kind, brave, determined, full of grace and always with the most beautiful smile. Here's my favourite photo of us both, from a long time ago!

Over 20000 jobs lost in UK Universities in 2024-2025

For context, miners' strike in 1984-85 was called over the loss of 20000 jobs

This puts into context scale of devastation presided over by @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social and Jacqui Smith

Well that’s me depressed for the weekend. As Glen acidly observes this looks like a pretty transparent effort to shift blame for coming university bankruptcies onto the institutions. Good luck with selling that to whichever MPs are about to lose their constituency’s largest employer.

I've seen an entire year of this tree at Sheffield Botanics. It's a beautiful tree, I love spending time near it. In the current world, it's important to take time to appreciate the wonder still here 🥰
