I'm in Vancouver this weekend, doing research and interviews for my book about the 2021 #HeatDome — and today I checked out something I noticed with the mapping of deaths during the #ExtremeHeat disaster. Get a load of this...

$2000 a month or a year will only cover healthcare for the most healthy in society.

It won’t cover disabled or chronically ill people

It won’t cover those in poverty

It won’t cover catastrophic illness

What happens to them?

They die.

This isn’t a healthcare plan. It’s an elimination strategy.

Telehealth & remote work were accommodations disabled people spent years fighting for

We were told it “wasn’t possible”

When Covid hit and accommodations were necessary to protect the non disabled?

They were in place overnight

Now they’re taking them away from those who need them most

The short trip conundrum in medium-sized Canadian cities: a thread.
Brent’s point is great. But in medium-sized Canadian cities, transit ITSELF is often designed for cross-city trips almost exclusively.
I have to say, after talking to @brenttoderian.bsky.social about how to make our cities better, I've been working to reduce my short car trips (biking / taking TTC more).

Car-dependent cities are not the future.

This is not some kumbaya “go high” shit. It’s me telling you when I’ve had a gun pointed at me—literally, not figuratively—it wasn’t the time to posture. Fascism’s guns are at the ready. Think before you spout off. Winning the struggle against fascism is what matters.

We will all be in desbelief of what we will see in few days in Canada
Something nobody had ever though to even be physically possible
Expect the whole world to talk about Lytton again
and expect WORLD RECORDS to be pulverized multiple times in a row
