A lot of Americans are like “We’ll fight for Canada if we have to!”

No, you won’t. You’re well-intentioned & some of you probably genuinely think you would but you won’t. If there is actual violent military conflict you will Homer-into-the-hedge dot gif and try not to draw attention to yourself.

Yes, this is what we sick and disabled people have been saying for years. Now please start wearing an N95 or KN95 to help prevent them from doing so.
it is terrifying to imagine what might happen if bird flu makes a leap to being highly infectious to humans.
I am starting to believe they want the elderly or those younger people who suffer from lower immunity due to medical pre-conditions to DIE so as to save on Social Security to have tax cuts

If you have had sedation for any surgery / procedure - you have been given fentanyl.

If you have experienced a medical trauma - you have been given fentanyl.

If you have had cancer care, you’ve probably been given fentanyl.

It is probably the most precise, effective medication in skilled hands.

If fentanyl gets changed to Schedule I like HR 21 is proposing, healthcare will come to a catastrophic screeching halt. I really need someone who isn't just me to be screaming about this. I cannot emphasize how bad it would be. Worse than COVID and avian flu combined.

The MMR vaccine is a live vaccine. If you're severely immunocompromised and no longer have immunity to measles, getting the vaccine is dangerous, complicated, or impossible. Just try to imagine how continually and increasingly terrifying it is to exist in this world as a medically high-risk person.

How many times have you discarded someone bc they aren't conflict avoidant? Shunned them for being “too angry?” It's all "find your community" & never "communities need to divest from internalized white supremacist BS that causes them to drive the most intensely marginalized, outspoken people out.”

I see a lot of people saying now is the time to get out of the U.S. if you can.

Please remember most disabled people can’t leave. It’s incredibly difficult to immigrate to another country when you have documented medical issues. Many are also too sick to endure a move.

We must fight for them.

Just as we feared, @who.int has confirmed that the US CDC has stopped sharing influenza virus data even as H5N1 spreads in the country.

I don’t even have the privilege to grieve everything chronic illness has taken from me and will continue to take away from me because those same chronic illnesses consume every single iota of energy, capacity, mental space, and will to live I have while simultaneously crushing me.

Whenever a friend develops chronic illness, has a bad experience with the healthcare system or faces temporary disability, they say “oh my god I didn’t know it was THIS bad”

They did know. We told them. They chose not to believe us

Believe disabled people. Listen. Help. One day it’ll be your turn

Hi, I am @motherjones.com' disability reporter. In the following weeks, I am very interested in hearing how tariff nonsense impacts getting your meds and medical equipment. My email to get in touch is jmetraux@motherjones.com. Reposts appreciated.

What about the DISABLED trans Americans who can never immigrate because we’re “too expensive” for a eugenicist healthcare system that used MAID to kill off disabled Canadians.

I’m honestly so tired of people talking about fleeing this country. Stop leaving those of us in more danger behind.
My fellow Canadians! Did you know our trans friends in the US can't seek asylum in Canada despite their lives being in danger in their home country right now? Welp there is a petition you can sign to help change that! www.momentumcanada.net/pathways?rec...
Sign the petition: Canada must update travel guidance and create clear, accessible pathways for trans refugees

🧵There is a marked divide btwn COVID-safer folks who are living a changed, but relatively full life - still going into bookstores, the movies, etc. albeit wearing a mask & those of us who are so high-risk that we can barely leave the house & spend social time outdoors 95-100% of the time, if at all.

Five years ago (Friday 3 Jan 2020), the number of identified cases of "unexplained viral pneumonia" increased from 27 to 44, as announced by the Wuhan Municipal Health Commission, who also wrote that there was "no obvious evidence of human-to-human transmission". ▫️1/

When my diagnosis changed to vEDS my care dried up. It was instant & obvious even if no one overtly said it.

“Veiled under that comment was the whispered implication “because if you have vascular EDS you might die, so why invest in your care if you’re actively dying?”

Five years.

Five years.

FIVE FUCKING YEARS OF ABANDONMENT & VIOLENT ABLEISM.

I'm a shell of the person I was in 2019. All my trust in humanity & community has been shattered over & over & over again. I cannot explain the all consuming grief of permanent isolation.

Wear a mask.

For years I have been haunted by the memory of a 3 year old Syrian refugee I met in Greece during the height of the refugee crisis. He had regressed and was non-verbal. Same age as my kid.

His dad said “he has seen very bad things”

I think of him and all the others I met, with tonight’s news.

I really hope that the rest of the medical ruling class is as scared of being murdered by an assassin as chronically ill people are of being murdered by the medical ruling class.
