i’d always say nice things about Toer’s Buru tetralogy but Tohari’s Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk trilogy really shaped my worldview, politics, and ethics.

another I learned: I can be whoever I want really, can easily pose as a prospie for the free drinks, but can also commiserate about the dismal job market with late stage grad students, and most importantly talk about pedagogy with “the adults”
what I learned after my first national conference is it’s ok to skip things bc I need to regroup (read: do my paint by sticker in silence)
