Noob here: For the first time I’m thinking of making my home a tiny bit «smarter». IKEA is launching a new line of smart home sensors etc on January 1st (in Norway), and what I like about them is that they are not cloud based. The app connects to the devices on the local network.

Je dis pas que c'est le purificateur d'air, mais auparavant la règle à la maison c'était que l'un refile systématiquement sa maladie respiratoire à l'autre alors que c'est désormais l'exception.

Welcome, Twitter escapees/new Bluesky users. Four quick tips:

1. Starter packs are awesome. I made a game dev one here -> go.bsky.app/RxQCsKS

2. Bluesky's block is much more potent. Do not quote, or dunk. There's no pay-to-win so silence does remove nasty people. Blocks and move on copiously.

genuine progressives would dismantle the system that funnels wealth into a few ultra-rich pockets, so nothing. expect zero help on that front
I want to ask the flipside question: what will it take for wealthy progressives to fund the infrastructure and entities needed to identify, support, and sustain emerging voices on *our* side of the aisle?
Anti-trans demagogue and fifth place swimmer Riley Gaines earned $470,000+ last year from a conservative non-profit.

Notably, $420k was incentive-based.

A neat little window into the way the transphobic grift is being compensated.

I wonder what the per-post rate is?

Ca fait au moins deux ans que Twitter n'est pas safe pour les artistes, on n'a pas les couteaux les plus affutés du tiroir ici.

La présence sur les RS est parfois une question de survie financière, mais Twitter était littéralement le pire endroit où rester.
For further context twitter added a button that allows users to generate ai images using existing art posts from artists. It removes glaze and it basically reskins the artwork by using the existing work as a base. Twitter is no longer a safe space for art

look at how little effort it takes for someone on the conservative grievance circuit to destroy a life

millions of college kids have half assed an assignment at the last minute, you eat the F and move on

but the effort to push trans people out of public life will use whatever it can get

tl;dr: GenAI and game design concepts traditionally referred to as "AI" (enemy behaviors, pathfinding, etc.) are not the same thing, and I'm on my knees begging people to learn the difference, lest we see more bullshit claims like what The Escapist put out re: Blue Prince.
Weird weekend, huh? Took a crack at breaking down the whole Clair Obscur genAI situation, and its bizarre fallout, as best as possible. My main takeaway right now is that people really need to figure out exactly what they're criticizing or it's going to get messy. www.polygon.com/clair-obscur...

This hasn't been a priority of any AAA studios for a long while and honestly it is you the end user who is footing the bill.

The vast majority of games push your hardware through inefficiency rather than spectacle or quality.

You can do a whole lot more with current pcs then you get.
Please 🙏. I don’t even care about the RAM shortage I just think it would be cool to have my game optimized to play on an oldish PC.
