This is really good to see: Miki Sherrill just put out a statement sharply criticizing the Senate Dems' pending cave in the government shutdown, ripping it as "malpractice" and a betrayal of the people who are "counting on us to fight for them." Sherrill knows what drove her victory. Wake up, Dems.

As the dust settles on Carney’s first budget, it’s become increasingly clear which Canadians he thinks need to make “sacrifices.”

Hint: it’s not the ultra-wealthy.

In fact, it’s clear why someone who still considers himself a
conservative feels at home in this Liberal government:

Mark Carney is billing it as an “investment budget,” but with plans to cut $60 billion in program spending and eliminate 40,000 jobs (10% of the federal public service), @dtcochrane.bsky.social says it’s more like an austerity budget

I see 'progressive liberals' cheering for a majority, but Carney is already similar to Harper ideologically with a MINORITY government

If he gets over the majority threshold thanks to 3 or 4 conservative defections?

He's gonna gonna go sharp right fast

A busy first day as your Mayor-elect: early morning interviews, transition announcements and meetings. More to say on all of it tomorrow.

But a highlight was lunch with my Congresswoman @aoc.bsky.social at Laliguras Bistro in Jackson Heights.

Carney is a conservative with no other motive than enabling more and more corporate profit. This is, in fact, what he was elected on. Nothing else matters to him. Of course he's going to let in people with horrible politics.
UPDATE: the new Liberal MP opposes a woman's right to choose according to the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada

Scary stuff to see the LPC welcome this. Luckily the NDP caucus remains fully pro-choice

Carney allowed an anti-choice conservative into the Liberal Party in effort to consolidate a majority and ram through his austerity.

There is just no bottom floor with Carney, it seems.

left-leaning Liberals should ask themselves why Conservatives can join their party so easily

Sure, part of it is Poilievre moving right, but it's also that Carney has moved right so much that he's made the Conservative Party irrelevant in Canada
