Shadow of the Colossus released on PlayStation 2 in Japan 20 years ago today! This masterpiece follows Wander on his journey to revive Mono at any cost. The player traverses the ruins of a hauntingly beautiful landscape to face 16 colossi, each presenting a unique puzzle. I highly recommend it!

Mattel released the Power Glove, a controller accessory for the Nintendo Entertainment System, 36 years ago in October 1989. The hype was intense and sold over 600,000 units in its first 6 weeks, but…it was so bad. 1/?

I’m excited about the Street Fighter movie set to be released next year! Of course, it makes me think back to the 1994 version, which I loved as a kid despite its silliness. I got this screening cassette at Portland Retro Gaming Expo’s VHS swap last year! I hadn’t seen a screening tape before. 🧵 1/?

Happy 40th birthday to Super Mario Bros., which was released in Japan on the Famicom on 9/13/85 🥳

This was the first NES game I ever played and beat. We took turns playing at my daycare (before I received it as a gift from my grandparents). We were only given one chance through until a game over.

Happy 36th Birthday to The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! It first aired on September 4, 1989 🥳 I still have my childhood tape of “King Mario of Cramalot,” a parody of the classic King Arthur legend with a golden plunger rather than a sword 🤭

The show was based on Super Mario Bros. 1 and 2. 🧵1/?
