I have a thought about the (small, but dedicated) #Trump2028 groups. We need to mobilize now, I think to enforce the boundary on the voter’s side in case the states don’t follow the Constitution. What does everyone think about a #22ndAmendment pledge? Especially one signed in more red/swing areas?
Today is bag drop day! For those of you in the Council I’m in (pretty much all of SE Mo and STL) you’ll be getting a blue bag on your door (If you don’t get one, stop by your Dist office next wk w/donations). Fill it & leave it next Sat where it will be taken, sorted & delivered to the food pantry.

So it feels weird that I will be going to Fort Massac Encampment where there’s representation for three historical kings (and one nascent republic) on the same weekend as the “No Kings” protest. I can’t really get out of it as I’m a trained scout parent, but wondering how I can make it work subtly.

Oh this is SO going to bite Trump’s team in the behind (not necessarily Trump, unfortunately). The traffic controllers are already calling out. The moment this is official, air traffic will come to a halt (further there’s already been one or two stoppages) and it won’t be all.

We might have thought a "post truth" world would stem from politicians presenting "alternative facts", or mis- and disinfo going viral. Turns out AI is doing the job more insidiously and comprehensively than that. Society has embraced a technology which is fundamentally incompatible with truth.
And here we go. I never wrote this article, and yet it is cited here.

And of course, it sounds so plausible, I seriously checked whether I had forgotten it, or the footnote was slightly wrong.

It was a rough week last week. I wish I’d had the courage to be more than a witness for a friend. I love them, but must work on my bravery, it seems.

Bumpass Hell is a geothermal region in Mount Lassen National Park. It’s an area filled with boiling pools, bubbling mud pots and the ever present sulfur vents waft the breezes to entice your nasal senses. 😉 It’s a great place to (safely) see geothermal forces in action. Well worth the hike in/out !

For many people, Sundays used to be a time of solace; a soft place where they experienced belonging, felt an abiding sense of community, and believed they saw the face of God, if only for a few moments.

I am grieving many things right now but I feel the US has totally given up on supporting life on earth. We will become a failed species because we never learned anything about being good stewards of our small blue planet.

What’s so interesting about this is that the denomination that inherited their history has pretty clearly done a 180. @unitedchurch.bsky.social interestingly their #UCCSynod is finishing up tomorrow. #IntotheDeep
Yeah, and a whole lot of them pretty explicitly think that's the model America should follow, and they're convinced that when they do it, it'll work better because they'll be even more theocratic because they're not going to do any halfway covenants like the Puritans did.

If you say “Christians don’t care about the environment,” that is largely untrue. Evangelicals don’t care, but there are many denominations and interfaith orgs that take stewardship of the environment seriously, actually.

Good news/follow-up to this. We decided to hold off a month on this particular campout!
(I hadn’t yet bought tickets to this) and my two kids want to go to the place I scheduled and essentially if they (and I) don’t go the camping trip is cancelled. As outdoor chair I feel beholden to follow through on the scouting commitment, but I’m not happy about it. 2/2

I wanted to go, but in my zeal to create a summer camping trip (the troop rarely camps in July and August for some reason) I forgot to check what MY schedule might look like… 1/2

It’s been a busy week for this scout mama. Second son returns home today from first weeklong camp. I spent the first week seeing him settle in easily and work well with his troop as well as getting trained on the towers. Loved it! #scoutingamerica #scouting
