Was feel surprisingly equanimous last night after the #bluejays loss — what a great season! But woke up this morning absolutely haunted by the lost opportunities and how whisper close they were. I’ll give you back your daylight savings hour, Universe, if you give me back my peace of mind.

When will we reach the stage when publicly stated or performed insane utterances and deeds will not be both-sidedly normalised with “crazy like a fox” flavoured commentary but simply, coldly, and rightly called good old fashioned “batshit crazy”? #mediareform

Ambassador Hoekstra should turn tough questions on Canada-U.S. relations into a diplomacy opportunity
The U.S. ambassador to Canada should look to his predecessors on guidance on how to engage: visit different regions of this country and have discussions with its people.

Because guilt is a powerful psychedelic. It makes people say the darnedest things, believe in the powerless power of powerlessness, and take comfort in cowardice. Being brave is hard. Action is hard. Sacrifice is hard. Organising is hard. Excuses are easy, pleasing, plentiful, and can be done alone.
If you ask why Americans aren't doing more to protect their own democracy, you get a bunch of replies like this.

"We can't, because..."

"Don't blame us, because..."

"There's nothing we can do, because..."
Like there are so many reasons why a comparison between the US and Italy or anywhere in the EU is not apples to apples. I want to believe people just don’t realize how precarious American life is when they ask this because otherwise I have to assume it just feels better to victim-blame than help.

Pierre Poillievre is the Andrew Dice Clay of Canadian politics. Everything he says is comically but unlaughably offensive and has the single benefit of identifying supporters as people you want nothing to do with.

Kier Starmer is guilty of an unforgivable act of lèse-majesté. The clowns at the Foreign Office and the whole UK establishment fancy themselves capable practitioners of realpolitik but are a Pythonesque burlesque of leadership. What a sad, lost land the UK has become, an embarrassment to its allies.

Just got out of the 50th anniversary cinema re-release of #Jaws. As a lifelong cinema lover, but too young to see it in theatres in ‘75, it was an almost religious experience. The film is pure poetry in all its aspects and has rekindled my lately much abused fondness for the big screen format.
