Her words were prettified. But nothing will undo the power of her testimony.
Virginia Giuffre's original draft (in the Epstein files) is way more engaging than the book that was eventually published. She is a hugely significant figure in U.S. history and I hope will be remembered with care and accuracy.

Honestly been back and forth all day about how to say what I really think when the news media is showing me photos of a masked man who allegedly kidnapped an elderly woman who happens to be the mother of a news media person while hundreds of people are being kidnapped off the streets by masked men.

Classism is the unseen, yet strangely seldom mentioned dynamic in Epstein’s trafficking of young girls to rich men. “Throwaway girls” is the way his partner in crime, Maxwell described them. Girls. Now women. That this system still does not support. Make sure you are not a part of that system.

Sorry for being pissy about this but it literally does not have to be this hard all you have to do is listen to people who shit is actually happening to because all of this was documented and happened relatively publicly.

whoever figures out a way to bundle independent journalism subscriptions will be a hero
i know that this is an unpopular take, but everyone starting their own newsletter as a revenue stream is not a sustainable model for writing and reporting or for people who love and want to pay for media.

The public library is an essential component of a 21st-century left political project as an example of both what is already available to us and what can be improved upon in the future. The library is a public good, and it is free as a public service.

I want more people to make the connections.

We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.
