I can only assume that because this is a headline, this clown does not understand that losing trust is the correct response

Like, no shit trust is lost, they horrifically failed in their duty to protect someone at the highest fucking levels and are _still_ doing it

When the government decided to let COVID-19 loose, they decided at that exact same time to do two things.

Make life difficult and lonely for elderly and disabled people.

Kill elderly and disabled people by playing dress up and pretend it’s 2019, because we want to be “kind”.

Thank you @writagal.bsky.social for always lighting the way. We have had an uptick in donations today and they are so very welcome. I reckon after today, we all know what’s needed is a safe and secure alternative reporting option - and that’s what we’ve built @tika
If you’re heartsick and furious at the consistent headlines and the lack of accountability across the board for NZ’s stats, please amplify and support Tika - an org that’s gearing up to do something about it, including the excellent @alisonmau.bsky.social.

Tika reps are on RNZ just after 9 today.
About Us - Tika is taking collective action against sexual harm
Tika is New Zealand's first and only legal charity dedicated to taking action against sexual harm. We offer a safe, sophisticated and secure way for people to report incidents and seek justice through...

I gave the closing keynote at posit::conf in September and it's available to watch. When you find yourself giving a talk with a little tiny microphone stuck to the side of your head you have to ask yourself some hard questions, but the talk was partly about that.

Imagine how frequently this must happen for Uber, the company thats let all kinds of bad stuff slide, implement this feature
“The dual class action suits allege that the functions—which followed thousands of sexual harassment and assault lawsuits against Uber and Lyft over the years— have limited the economic opportunities for men and discriminated against them because of their gender.”
Male Drivers Sue Uber and Lyft Over Women-Only Ride-Hailing
The lawsuits allege that male drivers receive fewer rides because of the feature, violating sex discrimination laws.

it does seem like there’s a major—though potentially fleeting—opportunity to invest in left-wing media. more than a million people in the most populous city in america just enthusiastically elected a democratic socialist and the world is watching. putting $$ towards left media rn is good business.

It’s been a pleasure working with Lex and everyone in the politics vertical at Teen Vogue. I’m heartbroken that my column, Disability Visibility, is gone. Teen Vogue was one of the few places that published disabled journalists regularly. I just spent the last 2 months working on my next column
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

There is no such thing as a bipartisan agreement

If you don't assume the right will do everything they can to tear down anything they don't like, you're not being serious
Quietly ripping out the guts of the supposedly bipartisan commitment to the Paris agreement
The Govt quietly announced a loosening of climate rules at 8pm last night:
- Decoupling the ETS from Paris
- Shifting ETS resets to every 2 years
- Delaying the public sector target by 25 years
- Removing CCC advice from *before* emission reductions plans:

For any unfamiliar with the quality of journalism at Teen Vogue, it's well known for hard-hitting stories on "politically sensitive" topics including climate.

Then there's CBS: the only major network to increase climate coverage in the last few years. They just axed nearly their whole climate team.

What radicalised you?

"Govt policy spread measles through my school that was at risk of collapsing on us"
They have recent history of the government telling them things are safe when they're not. Ministry of Education pulled staff out of a building because the earthquake risk (25% new building) but told WGC they should have classes in a higher risk (15% new Building) building for 4 years
We deserve to go to school without worrying the roof will fall on us
The Ministry of Education knew our biggest building wasn't up to earthquake safety standards, and said nothing.
