Smooth McGroove is known for his excellent acapella renditions of video game music and this one based off Stardew Valley's "Nature's Crescendo" doesn't disappoint.

Interesting article especially for those that review games. Talks about how imperfect a scoring system is and how writing reviews can very much be influenced by real world events at a certain time and place.

Anyone listen to a composer's back catalogue and are amazed how diverse it can be? For example, Trevor Morris is probably well known in gaming circles for the Dragon Age Inquisition OST but did you know he also did this 80s infomercial style track from SimCity Societies?

PC Gamer Top 100 is out for this year. It's been 10 years since Choicest Games did a Top 100 and am inspired to do another, PC Gamer style (with some weighting on uniqueness and importance of titles). Will probably use 7+ / 10 titles rated on the blog as it gives roughly 300 titles to start with.

A showstopper bug kept causing CTDs. Despite my attempts to make it work it didn't and it's probably just as well, the game hasn't aged terribly well anyway (except for its awesome soundtrack). Time for a remake!

It's different, like every previous iteration of Dragon Age. But it also feels like a fantasy version of Mass Effect 2, and I just happen to like Mass Effect 2.

Playing Heavy Rain for the first time and kind of surprised it did so well? I guess for its day it was a technical marvel and it was considered "mature" (if titillation is what you're after) but it feels like Cage stitched a bunch of common tropes and cliches found on the big screen /1

This game doesn't rate well on Steam and the developer seems out of business. But is it at least any fun?

Unfortunately, it is not.

Does anybody else get strong Quest for Glory 1 vibes when visiting the Adventurer's Guild in Stardew Valley? There's even an old guy snoozing in a rocking chair by the fireplace called Gil that reminds me of Wolfgang... now makes me wonder if Eric Barone ever played it...

Despite claims from EA about the advanced kernel-based anti-cheat in BF6, I unfortunately came across my first instance of cheating last night in the beta: guy had a majority of the kills, a kdr of 97-1 at the end of the game and all kills were headshots. Why you gotta cheat man? A hollow victory

When Baz in Cook Serve Forever starts talking about birthday cake designs, it reminds me of that old Australian Women's Weekly recipe book which also features a duck, swimming pool and train. Surely not just a coincidence?

Thanks to the Internet Archive I can go back and read now defunct PC gaming magazines like PC Review and reminisce about the time I saw my name come up in Issue 38 (Dec 1994). The folks were probably surprised to see some expat kid living in the UAE was one of the competition winners!
