So there’s a particularly pernicious form of racist microaggression that recently came to my attention. One where white people will see a black person - particularly a black woman - in distress in public and refuse to help them or even acknowledge them.

So I want to ask, because I’m genuinely curious: what is it about seeing black people being joyful in public that irritates white folk so much? Too often, I’ve seen white people swooping in to disrupt groups of black people laughing or dancing or simply chatting happily. 🧵
