i think it's a little surprising that people are Actually Upset about someone saying that games writing is subpar compared to literature, because it's true, and it's not even remotely insulting. Video games aren't made to be literature, they're made to be interactive experiences.

going to level with you, bsky, it does bother me to see SHf wholesale being accepted as a "feminist narrative" despite the fact that it's written by a man and all of its female characters' motivations revolve around the male cast. (Except the one girl that dies like 5 mins in, but lol)

I saw someone say that people need to go see it so Disney knows we want more Tron stuff, and frankly as a Tron fan I’m perfectly happy with the slop makers never making another piece of Tron themed slop ever again
Humanity has a chance to do the funniest thing possible and not go see TRON: Ares this weekend. If we can all unite on this planet for one singular reason, let it be this. I need this movie to bomb so bad, dude. It would bring a small moment of joy for me, please.

i have no choice but to be the hater in the room and say that this legit sounds bad to me. No shade to the VA, I'm sure this is more of a direction issue, but this feels overacted to the point of comedy to my ears.
Minor characters now truly become the iconic figures of a fittingly sweeping tale. Milleuda, a character I’d always glanced over in previous playthroughs, has become one of my favorites.
I would also push Argath off the nearest ledge at any given opportunity.

The problem arises when the story quality dips beneath the already mid-tier level it was coasting along on, as we've seen with a sharp drop-off in playerbase. (I am a part of the drop-off after being subbed for 6 years straight so PLEASE do not tell me it's not happening.)
A common criticism of FFXIV pathces is likie "you get 6 hours of story every 4 months" but I dunno if people realize how actually fast that is
that's like 30 hours of story every year and a half, which is an insanely fast pace in the current industry
