In response to Elizabeth Eddy's essay in the New York Post, it's a good time to remind y'all that Chicago stands firmly in the belief that Trans People Belong. We will not stand for bigotry or transphobia. We love and support our trans family always. ❤️🏳️‍⚧️

If you're looking for a copy & paste email to your ticket rep expressing your dismay with the club's silence on the transphobic & racist attacks, you can use this!

We reached out to our FO contact, but have not yet heard back. Adding your voice to the chorus is a great way to get involved!
here is the email i sent to my Chicago Stars ticket rep asking the club to make a statement about the racist & transphobic attacks on the NWSL — feel free to copy & paste! (alt text provided)

If you're struggling to put your feelings into words and you want to express your disappointment in league leadership, follow Rachael's lead! Copy & paste! Screaming into the online echo chamber only goes so far.
a follow up because beautiful words are not enough

Our leadership has also reached out to the Stars. The cool part about being an independent SG is the ability to hold your team accountable! So send those emails! Make it clear you want to see more direct action!
Waiting to hear back from the Stars
I have reached out to the Washington Spirit comms for comment on the recent comments from Elizabeth Eddy and Jennifer Sey.

Don’t know that i will hear back today but will keep you all posted if and when i do get a comment from them.

I also think officially engaging bad faith actors over eligibility in a statement like this means the “protect women’s sports” crowd have successfully controlled the conversation. Everyone’s dancing around the underlying problem, except for Sarah Gorden.

oh, but sharing incorrect and harmful rhetoric & encouraging hate speech isn't bullying? gotcha, cool
"Reasonable people can disagree on this topic, but there’s no need to go to bullying or name calling because it doesn’t set a good example for anyone," Elizabeth Eddy says on Fox News this morning, after a week of inciting targeted transphobic and racist attacks on fellow NWSL players.

People should be a little bit (socially) fearful to voice stupid, bigoted opinions in public. That’s just the system working as intended.
Elizabeth Eddy on Fox and Friends this morning

“A lot of players in the league have reached out to me saying they do agree, but they’re fearful to speak up.”

this statement is so vague that it could be copy & pasted for reuse.

to the trans folks in the woso community, especially ACFC fans, we're sorry the club and the league has let you down (again). we believe you belong here, and we're always striving to make our community a safe place for y'all. 🏳️‍⚧️💕

The Spirit Squadron condemns Elizabeth Eddy’s NY Post article, which promotes a hateful ideology that targets trans and cis Black women athletes under the guise of “protecting women,” and it has no place in the NWSL.

i emailed Commissioner Berman as a member of @chicagolocal134.com, and you should too!

shout out to Rachael for often providing templates; figuring out what to write can be the most intimidating part of calling for action and holding leadership accountable!
I, name member of SG, stand with all trans people, but today especially with those who seek a future spot in the NWSL. I deeply oppose any so called “gender standards” that loudly ignorant transphobes support. I am also appalled at the lack of explicit support for players who are being unfairly

In addition to any moral or competitive arguments,

1. This is a fake problem. There aren't any trans women in NWSL. There aren't any trans women in the immediate pipeline that I'm aware of.

2. Using Banda for the cover photo here is obviously just extremely racist.
Deeply disappointed in Liz Eddy here, who I've always liked and respected. A reminder that we have a lot of work to do when it comes to educating the public about why trans inclusion isn't just morally correct, but competitively sound share.google/Gjf9a1Sl01eL...

This is some bullshit on SEVERAL different levels. It conveniently ignores the former openly trans NWSL players because it doesn’t fit the anti-trans/“save women’s sports” propaganda and fuels the hatred towards Black women who play in the NWSL (it wasn’t just Banda who was targeted by those people)
