All of these are good. I also

a) take a shower or go swimming
b) watch a terrible movie
c) type out part of a story by a writer whom I love (and have very little obvious writerly DNA in common with)
Three simple tricks to getting over writer's block that work for me:

1. take a walk
2. print out and reread your work
3. get incredibly high
4. do more research

You can try each independently or in combination.

Many (white-tailed) deer seen in walk through town/neighbourhoods to the Co-op (grocer's). On the way there, a boy and his (hoped for) harem; on way home, just the girls being naughty by nibbling rose bushes.

@catsofyore.bsky.social Spotted a wee cat in the header photo of today's Sweary History (On this day in history) ... and it was featured in the short tale, as well.

“I am not interested, nor will I ever be interested. I'm 61, and I hope to be able to remain uninterested in using it at all until I croak. ... The other day, somebody wrote me an email, said, ‘What is your stance on AI?’ And my answer was very short. I said, ‘I'd rather die.’” 🫡
Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro says 'I'd rather die' than use generative AI
Del Toro's new Frankenstein adaption reimagines Mary Shelley's 1818 Gothic novel. Frankenstein was like a tech bro: "creating something without considering the consequences," he explains.

You guys. Your suggestions are amazing and appreciated. I've listened to Cabaret 3 times, and I'm currently on Chicago, on my way to

I don't know who this person is, living in my skin, but I'm so glad he's here; he's a lot of fun to hang out with while we discover this stuff together.

Does anyone here print their own zines? Since the cost of printing zines with Mixam has gone way up, I'm looking into the idea of getting a printer for zines and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with DIY zine printing. I'm thinking it would be cheaper in the long run.

So a very “fall” (autumn) day and launching right into baking mode. Strawberry pecan quick bread recipe I’m trying out here—then, this afternoon, grape pie.

Excuse, pls, the condition of the oven window etc

"transparent prose" is overdone as writing advice, but when someone actually honest-to-god nails it and you read an entire book like it's nothing, like it's actually happening around you-- that's magic.

Monthly reminder: Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination and Insecurity Mountain, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, and use it to cut your chest open and yank that book out.
