Chloride salts are used to make roadways safe in the wintertime, despite being very environmentally unfriendly and corrosive. Research is ongoing to find new ways to limit the corrosive properties of salts and minimize the amount needed to break the ice. cen.acs.org/environment/... #chemsky 🧪
