I worked for more than 30 years for a major news outlet as a correspondent and editor. Follow my work at the progressive website Uncharted Blue. I had been a member of the Community Contributors Team at the Daily Kos website. I also write about jazz.
As 2025 comes to an end, here's the best analysis I've read to date from the progressive website Uncharted Blue.

Omar represents Minnesota’s 5th CD, which has a D+32 rating. The Minneapolis-area district has continuously been represented by Democrats since 1963. Musk’s comment that Somalis were imported to ensure that a Democrat wins is ridiculous.

Trump is delusional when it comes to the authoritarian leaders he admires.

On Sunday, after talking by phone with Putin, Trump said: "Russia wants to see Ukraine succeed."

On Monday, after meeting Netanyahu, Trump said: "We're helping the people of Gaza a lot. So is Israel, by the way."

In this 1945 short film about religious tolerance, "The House I Live In," which received an honorary Oscar, Frank Sinatra delivered an anti-fascist, pro-democracy message about tolerance. And he was definitely pro-immigrant: "All races and religions, that's America to me."

ICE acting director Todd Lyons sounds like Adolf Eichmann, who facilitated and organized the mass deportations of Jews from Germany and Austria in the late 1930s. After WWII started, Hitler ordered mass extermination and Eichmann became one of the major organizers of the Holocaust.
“.. We need to get better at treating this like a business,” ICE acting director Todd M. Lyons said .. as efficiently as Amazon moves packages: “Like Prime, but with human beings.”

What if Bari Weiss were running CBS News in 1941, and Edward R. Murrow reported that Jews were being rounded up by the Nazis and sent to concentration camps where they were tortured and killed, Would she drop the story because Josef Goebbels declined to be interviewed by Murrow?

I watched the series “Vikings” on the History Channel. Since Floki and Ubbe Lothbrok all sailed from Greenland to North America, Greenland can go ahead and annex the US but not Canada.
I would absolutely welcome their annexation.
Greenland has announced it will annex the United States, citing humanitarian concerns, chronic leadership instability, and an urgent need to protect valuable land from reckless mismanagement. Officials assured Americans they'll soon enjoy free healthcare, quieter politics, and less gold plating.

Bari Weiss is a political hack, not a journalist. I am a retired international news editor. If the reporting was solid, all that needed to be done is insert a line that the Trump administration was asked to comment but declined to provide an interview.

‘60 Minutes’ correspondent says CBS’s Bari Weiss abruptly pulled segment on Trump deportations
CBS News postponed a ‘60 Minutes’ segment about El Salvador’s CECOT prison one day before it was set to air because the Trump administration declined to participate.

Just remember that this blathering idiot is among Trump’s top choices to replace Jerome Powell as Fed Chairman.
HASSETT: If the Supreme Court doesn't find with us, refunds would go to whoever cut the check for the tariff

BRENNAN: Doesn't the administration claim it was the country that paid that?

HASSETT: Uhh --

in NYC, which overwhelmingly voted against Trump three times, his name was already being taken off of buildings during his first term. It was found that the Trump name lowered property values. This story was published in December 2019.

Don’t take the bait. There is a good chance that Trump might die before his term is over. He would be 82 in 2028 and even more cognitively impaired. He would be totally unfit to run for a third term which remains unconstitutional.
The only people missing from this are Jonathan Turley, Mike Lindell and the rest of the characters from the the Mos Eisley Cantina.

Can we just call it — Deranged Trump Syndrome, or DTS. Just look up the meaning of the DTs, which stands for Delerium tremens, the most severe form of alcohol withdrawal.

What might be the most disturbing photo from the Epsteing estate released by House Democrats today is the one showing Epstein's bondage-linked sex toys. With Epstein, you can't even imagine the depths of his depravity. Release the Epstein files!

After seeing those new photos of Woody Allen hanging out with Jeffrey Epstein, you really have to wonder about the critical acclaim his 1979 film "Manhattan" received. A 43-year-old comedy writer dating a high school student? It now seems to be a homage to pedophilia.

The actual medal presentation of the Kennedy Center Honors has traditionally been held at the White House. The there is a concert at the Kennedy Center for the honorees. . However in the past the honorees and president and first lady were much classier.
