This is the kind of thing that makes me want to go back to academia. The future of experiments is incredible. Just some ideas:

I'm not sure.

The enshitification continues. I'm not even a Conservative, I just think it is fucking stupid to remove a gun from a picture when the 27 movies are just two hours of guns. There is a person in this world that gets paid - probably a shit ton of money - to make these meaningless decisions.

There is a lot of concern about leaked genetic data, but what I wonder is, can a "reputable" legal entity like a health insurance company use this information? Or the government? Wouldn't the chain of custody be unreliable? #genetic #privacy

"the quest for drug targets have meanwhile reduced much of cancer research from a scholarly biological discipline to a transactional operation concerned more with cataloguing molecular alterations and finding associations, than with understanding fundamental principles using formal theory." Agreed.
The end of the genetic paradigm of cancer
Genome sequencing results and single-cell transcriptomics continue to produce findings that challenge the idea that cancer is purely a ‘genetic disease’. This Essay delves into cancer omics data that ...

Charlie Kirk is dead by assassination. This political violence needs to stop. Things will only continue to get worse. I didn't like him but no one should be killed for their beliefs and speaking them aloud.

Enhancers mediate euchromatin hopping at chromatin contact points
Enhancer-mediated gene activation involves the recruitment of chromatin modifiers and RNA polymerase to target promoters, but it is unknown if enhancers influence chromatin beyond their target genes. ...

As a former #evo-devo academic that moved to industry, I can say that people with evolutionary backgrounds are very employable in #biotech. In fact, they tend to do better than people trained in more narrow topics like cell biology. Folks doing genome evo, please come to industry. We need you.
We don't structure our programs to reflect this, but in reality faculty is the alternative career path, not the default.
“Overall, the message from this survey is positive; evolutionary biologists are readily employable outside of academia, generally well-prepared for those jobs, and report high levels of satisfaction” www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
