watching an old Frankies Shelf video and their criticism for a couple of books featuring queer relationships is gonna give me a lot to chew on for a while. (The context is that these books had a shared approach where the narrative treated queer relationships basically identically to straight ones)

There's a whole generation that learned irony before sincerity and now they're trapped. Can't be earnest without a layer of self-deprecation. Can't be enthusiastic without signaling awareness of how cringe enthusiasm is.

I am founding a not-for-profit website where independent comic creators and small publishers can easily sell their works to libraries, plus provide other services. Called (for now) the Comics Librarian Commons, this will be an online hub bringing independent creators and librarians together.

The Diamondback crew takes in folks from all around the galaxy, provided you're some sort of reptile person! Behold, the colorful, quirky, and (mostly) functional crew of the Seascale Spacesailer!

4 Reptile folks stand in a line. 1. Joule, Gecko, tech expert. passionate if scatterbrained and obivious. Outcast due to a Hemophilia condition that makes her tail very hard to grow back. 2. Boregard. Based on an oc of Charlotte Tangle! Naga. A nervous sort. Scared of most people, but loves to watch the stars at night. Crow's Nest veteran. Has a blood curse that made him a rabid beast on his planet, that he has since tamed with a special gum. The cuffs on his arms are magitech that, if his blood curse isn't satiated and he goes off the deep end, can be snapped to each other with a command word. 3. Humphrey. (Slayer of the damned). Horned Devil. Fucking blood thirsty and ruthless. The only actual pirate here, has killed more than one person and will do it again. Clothes keep catching and ripping on his uniform. Horrible at board games. Teases Boregard constantly and dreams of seeing him go apeshit and hunting him for sport. 4. Helena. Naga woman. Girl's girl. Has slowly been taking more and more off her neckline, waiting for someone to notice. Became so beautiful when she transitioned that she caused several civil wars for her hand in marriage. But she wasn't into ANY of them! so she went to space and became a pirate. REALLY good at board games. Smokes Humphrey in a game of Space Uno 10 to none. A group of reptilian pirate people! 1. Archie. Pterosaur guy! First mate, dutiful, loyal and compitent right hand man. An outcast on his home planet for having a condition that made the membranes on his wings too thin for him to fly. Joined up with the pirate crew as a result, and learned that a bit of cloth to reinforce the weak bits gave him a small bit of flight! He's incredibly greatful in the crew's help for discovering this, and has become a sort of big brother to the assorted reptiles of the crew. Very protective. 2. Burt. Softshell turtle. Cook and fisherman. Voiced by a fella on the server I designed these guys in. An old fella who ended up running away to space to escape after a nasty divorce. Spenes all his time fishing and cooking, and makes a pretty mean bisque. He apparently had a lot of game as a young turtle, but now a days most of his catches are on the end of his pole. Has a great nose. Loves smoking fish. 3. Mildred. Milly for short. Worm Salamander/lizard. The 2nd most important person on this ship. Quartermaster, Seamstress, Historian, Accountant, and down-to-earth voice of reason. Incredibly informed, proficient businesswoman, now living the dream of having her own sewing studio and running a ship. Made everyone's clothes historically accurate, works only with natural materials, and while a bit of a bookworm, is a huge boon to the crew. Loves historical dramas. 4. Caw, a 2-headed Archeopteryx. One head is always quiet and kind and lovey-dovey, while the other is always naughty and screaming. Suprisingly obedient, does require snack payment upfront. 3 Lizard people standing on the deck of a ship. 1. Delphara the Gorgeous. Tuatara with a third eye. Fortune teller of dubious validitity and Burt's ex-wife. A bold, brash, and flamboyant scryer who claims to be able to see the future through multiple divination methods. Has crazy cat lady energy, but no cats. Insists you call her by her full name at all times. Her and Burt have a sort of Kermit and Miss Piggy thing going on, but they've long been seperated. They're not totally sure if she can actually see the future, but better to be on her side anyways. 2 and 3: Lokit and Pokit, a matching set of a Chameleon and False Chameleon respectively. A pair of lackey-types who are best friends despite their opposite personalities. Lokit is serious and stern, while Pokit is excitable and brash. They've got a single brain cell between them, and they're very obsessed with impressing their captain, wanting desperately to make her proud. I think they have mommy issues. Fight together, Sleep together, explore together. These two are fast and forever friends!!!
