apparently i am very goal-oriented, so much so that my therapy homework is to re-frame thoughts like "it doesn't feel like i did much today" to "i did this and this to make progress towards that specific goal"🧍also to avoid using "productive", and try "purposeful" instead 🧍

there are lots of programs for families of veterans to pass on their benefits, but a lot of them require an unbroken chain of succession, so you may need to get your veteran grandparents to file stuff on your behalf or something like that. you may not qualify. but it's worth looking into.

as this thread goes on to say: it's extremely tempting to join up if you're poor. military benefits are Very Good, much better than most people will ever have access to through other jobs. to this day, I struggle with regret that I never pursued military service for that reason. i get it.
from someone who was in school for the beginning of the "war on terror," please. please please please. talk to teenagers in your life about not joining the us military. about not letting themselves be groomed by recruiters in schools. they're going to want soldiers, and they always start young.
