I published this essay today about the value of keeping democratic politics involved when questions of constitutional authority become relevant.
A Tale of Two Constitutions
What happens when two different visions of the Constitution go to bat against each other? Does it always end up before the Supreme Court?

Mueller said he didn't formally accuse Donald because he wouldn't have a chance to defend himself in court, and now we're here lmao
After Sauer says Lisa Cook "was given an opportunity" to respond to the allegations, KBJ asks whether that due process was: "She supposed to post about it, and that was the opportunity to be heard?"

Yes, Sauer replies.

One of the things about people showing up to protest for the first time, that many, many armchair theorists don't grasp, is the effect of seeing what happens with your own eyes, then seeing how media covers it, and what is said ABOUT YOU by media and political personalities/office holders.

They way i put it is that cheating in elections is not like flipping a switch, it's like moving a needle. Republicans will cheat, they will move the needle, but I still don't think they'll be able to move the needle nearly far enough to save themselves.
i don't even know why i'm raising this here because i know i'm going to get a hundred replies of "Trump has god powers that will let him do whatever he wants and thus we have no choice but to bend to his will," but for those of you capable of complex thought, these are questions to ask yourself.

The treasury department should be a congressional agency, not an executive one. @joshchafetz.bsky.social makes a really convincing case that this was the textual intent of the origination acts establishing the departments of war, state, and treasury

the main reason for this imo is that the markets have priced in someone talking trump down from the ledge. they're so desperate to chase the yield that they won't hedge against trumpogenic uncertainty until it's too late. see i.e. tariffs.

We are 25 thousand dollars away from having raised 200 thousand dollars since the start of our fundraiser.

Once we hit that number, no more than two weeks after that day, our editor will begin pushing Liberal Currents forward full-time.

Could we get there today??: www.gofundme.com/f/the-libera...

When they repaved LaSalle And Randolph, they took out the plastic flexiposts, repainted the ped island, and never put the flexiposts back. Enormous danger for pedestrians who think they're safe standing on the "island"
This is how CDOT is modifying 18th/Wabash after Ald. Dowell (3rd) made CDOT remove its NACTO approved intersection.

- NE/SW islands and NW (partial) delineator being removed
- Being replaced with flexiposts/paint
- EB/WB turn lanes are being restored

Trump just announced he will be giving members of the military a $1776 bonus. So re-upping this shutdown piece about the dangers of a the leader of a personalist regime presenting himself as the paymaster of the armed forces.

I had the thought the other day that I should read foreign affairs again and when I saw this was the lead story on the website I was like "maybe I'm good actually"
“Were Canada, Germany, and Japan to acquire nuclear weapons, they would rebalance global military capabilities in favor of a coalition of states committed to the rules-based system,” argue Moritz Graefrath and Mark Raymond.
America’s Allies Should Go Nuclear
