A Black man was killed by ICE (off duty) in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve. And like Renée Good, he was an American citizen. But most people have not heard about Keith Porter.

My sincere hope is that out of all this, people start to consider police/prison abolition more seriously. ICE/CBP/DHS is brutal but not exceptional.

ICE, CBP and DHS has always been about instilling terror. It's just become more overt now.

Trump's invasion of Venezuela is not fundamentally different from the 200+ years of fuckery the US has committed in central & South America and the Caribbean, at least as far back as the Monroe Doctrine. It's not enough to remove him, we have to fundamentally remake this country

I think I'm gonna come in at reading 24 books, plus about half of Robert Alter's Hebrew Bible+commentary, a few hundred pages of some other books I started but didn't finish.
Finished a novel this year and started querying it.
Started writing a new novel.
Not a bad reading/writing year. /1
