Eclectic weirdo into tech, astrophotography, politics, health care, and whatever else people are wrong about on the internet. No I am not trolling, I am really that pedantic.
Completely predictable consequence and it won’t stop here.
I can't see how having an untold number of games been permanently affected by this isn't way past a "hypothetical" tipping point-

I doubt Matty is suggesting we eliminate rules around things like pollution. There is in fact plenty of irrational overregulation driving up the cost and timelines for new builds. Nimbys love hiding behind environmental reviews.
Oh, I don’t know. Our rivers no longer catch on fire and our air is far less poisonous than it used to be, even in smog bowls like Los Angeles. And I think those are good things.
If there’s no shale gas then there’s no shale gas, but I still think environmentalism is basically bad and politicians should focus more on material prosperity.

The people we gotta reach, who aren’t on this website, are more influenced by identity affinity than by policies. Newsom could be the shiny package that could deliver progressive policies to DC.

Is this a trauma response on my part? Probably…

I could be very wrong, luckily it’s not my decision.
Democratic Presidential Polling:

Newsom: 29%
Harris: 17%
Buttigieg: 12%
AOC: 6%
Booker: 4%
Shapiro: 3%
Cuban: 3%
Pritzker: 2%
Beshear: 2%
Crockett: 2%
Walz: 2%
Stewart: 2%

I’m not defending Hanania and have no idea if his supposed conversion (from vile racist to shitty conservative) is real. But how can anyone be invited to change their mind and achieve any form of redemption if we disallow it a priori?

I do believe people can learn and grow. I know I have.
Very disappointing to see @bostonglobe.com running a piece from Richard Hanania today.

Imagine the arrogance of coming to another country as an immigrant, becoming a citizen, and then having the audacity to publicly say you're ready to destroy their constitution.

He should have lost his citizenship awhile ago.

The compounding of value from very cheap energy will become very obvious as the Chinese economy starts to rapidly overtake ours. We will never get back the lost growth.
In 2024, China installed 1.5x as much new solar as the entire US installed base.

No one has read the details and is piling on with ‘OMG phrenology!’ Which means they believe the AI has discovered a kernel of truth behind phrenology and the like! It has not! The research is about *photos* and not *faces*.
Researchers are now saying that AI can find correlations between facial characteristics and success on the job.

The Economist says that corporations would have a “strong incentive” to deploy this technology when looking at applicants.

A lot of tension on BlueSky is a result of continental vs analytical analysis.

And often it’s the experiantial story that has more predictive power and is therefore more useful.

I think I see both sides, as I can reason both dispassionately and with empathy. Different modes of analysis.

Timmy thinks matty is talking about “belligerently drunk” people. He’s not.

He’s just a killjoy that thinks people drinking any beer at a game are drunks.
I’m the normie whisperer who believes that people who get belligerently drunk at sports games are getting drunk off stadium beer

Mocking with joy is how we take the country back.
To quote Peggy Noonan, “is it irresponsible to speculate? No, it’s irresponsible *not* to.”
The important thing is not whether the Trump performing sexual favors for Bill Clinton thing is true. The important thing is that we all pretend it’s true, and that someone asks Trump about it every day.

People have no idea what is happening in tech. They conflate AI slop and chatGPT hallucinations and other peripheral issues like water and energy use, copyright issues, and contempt for billionaires, coming to the conclusion that it’s all a scam or that the tech won’t work. Andy’s in for a surprise.
if you believe fully autonomous robot butlers are just over the horizon you are actually one of the dumbest motherfuckers alive and we should take your money from you so we can put it towards something worthwhile

Shapiro: He rose to some prominence by writing a book about growing up in Appalachia, where there are a whole lot of people who get SNAP. He made millions of dollars off telling their stories, and then he turned his damn back on those very people he likes to write about and claim as his own.

She shouldn’t have resigned, but the harassment may have been too much. Really stupid stuff and the academic standards around citations are extremely difficult to achieve in practice.

Have you ever learned a domain deeply? You pick up jargon and phrases! This woman got pilloried over nonsense.
Not over the fact that they called their shot, followed through, and people I'm supposed to believe are "objective" and "trustworthy" still joined in the fun of attacking a Black woman

If you watch the video he actually gets up from his chair and turns to the man. Trump is obviously a POS and doesn’t care, but “couldn’t be bothered to turn his head” is just not true, and is a perfect example of the left spreading misinformation because of its “truthiness”. We don’t have to do it.
The Sociopath-In-Chief couldn't be bothered to even turn his head in the direction of a man in the midst of a medical emergency who collapsed in his office. Completely incapable of empathy, the EPSTEIN Files can't be released soon enough.

Dems have ZERO incentive to cave. GOP is monumentally stupid for not figuring that out.
Chris Murphy: "There will be pretty substantial damage to a Dem brand that has been rehabilitated if on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop... if we surrender without having gotten anything, I worry it'll be hard to get them back up off the mat"

Weird because last time I was in a Catholic church I was (indirectly but clearly) told to vote for Trump.
"Pope Leo said Scripture emphasizes the question that will be posed at the end of the world:

'How did you receive the foreigner, did you receive him and welcome him, or not? I think there is a deep reflection that needs to be made about what is happening'..."

chicago.suntimes.com/pope-leo-xiv...
Pope Leo calls for ‘deep reflection’ about treatment of detained migrants in U.S.
“Many people who have lived for years and years and years, never causing problems, have been deeply affected by what is going on right now,” Chicago-born pope says.

I love the energy here, but it’s a mistake to think our margins would have been the same with Trump on the ballot. This vote was by a different electorate, and for sure included people fired up against trump, but it didn’t include a whole lot of MAGA. Elections tell us who is motivated.
Oh, you simple-minded, wheezing gargoyle . . . you were very much on the ballot. You are blamed for the shutdown. You are blamed from SNAP shutting down. You are blamed for a bad economy. And numerous people interviewed last night mentioned that seeing the East Wing destroyed motivated them to vote.
