Get in ultrasound researchers, we're making this Blue Sky thing happen. I'm making an ultrasound researchers starter pack, and I'm not stopping until I get 150 of you on there:

I gotta say, I wouldn't have clocked these for being from 1895 immediately after Roentgen's discovery of X-rays. I feel like the field of medical imaging moved pretty slow for the period after this.
#OnThisDay in 1895, Wilhelm Roentgen discovered x-rays and altered the course of medical history. Pictured: images from one of the 1st series of x-rays ever produced (just 2 weeks after Roentgen published his discovery). More here: publicdomainreview.org/collection/e... #WorldRadiographyDay

As an imaging scientist, I will never type the word "imagine" without typing "imaging" first.
Hello, I'm a professional author and I can never spell permanently or camouflage on the first try.

Come, make me feel better and share your nemesis words.

Is this the bar we're holding our tech entrepreneurs to these days? It seems difficult to spend trillions and *not* transform the world. Hit me up, I can do it for 1/10th of that.

As a fan of the em and en dashes prior to the explosion of its use with ChatGPT, I'm conflicted. One one hand, I am happy others will now use this helpful punctuation; however, I don't like that people view it as a signal that GPT was the source of the writing.

Writing 'Hope all is well!' in an email has felt increasingly awkward lately. Like, no, all is clearly not well, but what am I supposed to do, write 'Hope things are medium okay'?

Finally fulfilled my dream of owning a 1952 Topps card with this Larry Doby gem. Sharing it on Jackie Robinson Day because Doby was the second African American in MLB, following Robinson. Both legends broke barriers, inspiring us toward equality and inclusion. #JackieRobinsonDay #LarryDoby

Pub alert for a paper written in collaboration with Mike King's lab where we used focused ultrasound to mechanically stimulate prostate tumor cells in vivo, enhancing apoptosis. Congratulations to our brilliant team members, Abigail Fabiano and Malachy Newman, for their exceptional work!
Excited to share our new paper using Focused Ultrasound to mechanically stimulate prostate tumor cells in vivo, now published in Advanced Science! #OpenAccess
Great collab with @cfcaskey.bsky.social
Congrats to Abby Fabiano and Malachy Newman 🔊

I don't see any other way to look at this: Trump and Republicans are killing cancer and brain research while vacuuming $126 million out of our economy

I've been calling every day to see what our Republican Senators in Tennessee's official stance is on the NIH cuts and firings:

Marsha Blackburn: (202) 224-3344
Bill Hagerty: (202) 224-4944

No word yet. The interns at Hagerty's office are friendly. Marsha's goes to voicemail

💯 A company might have a much lower IDC rate but they are not responsible for training their employees for 5 years with the intended goal that these people move on and bring these skills to another company.
Many in biotech/private sector are boasting about their ways of funding and doing science

But they are staffed with PhDs and postdocs we train in our NIH and NSF funded labs in universities

With university labs lacking funds to train, the private sector will be profoundly harmed

Total novice on this topic, but I'm pretty sure the indirect rate is negotiated between the NIH and research institutes. It's not a made up number. It's what both parties agreed on as the cost to perform research

If you are a public servant (government/academic/research, etc.) or working on topics that are specifically under attack, I just want to say my heart is with you. Your work is valuable. You are valuable.

I'm trying *very* hard to not freak out (on public forums) about everything that is going to happen with this administration; however, if the new admin disrupts NIH funding, it will mean I have to fire people and/or change my career
NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.
