Yesterday I celebrated with my son as he received a substantial scholarship offer from the University of Portland…and then I read the news. Adding “military occupation” to his college pro/con list felt surreal.

Frustrated to the point of tears that I got a call from my dentist’s corporate collections office because insurance kicked in just $20 for my recent cleaning and I’m now late in giving them an extra $85 on top of the copay I paid at the office. All news to me.
