The freelancers stated they were not told clearly what the financial situation of PCG/SJG was at the time, so any numbers shown now do fuck about shit. Also, why no replying to Rascal's attempts to reach out? Chucking this on a Medium article and subtweeting to control the narrative is some move.
The response outright says "they threw out a big number that stressed out me, their employer, so I had our corpo lawyer deal with it instead" and I guess everybody's cool with that? It's so cowardly and deaf to all the ways in which Jay is the powerful party in this negotiation, including race.

look, please don't tell me to try other games, okay? the neopets ttrpg is what we're all familiar with. we use a homebrew setting instead of neopia and we ignore some of the rules about grappling and using rations during long-distance travel, but other than that it's exactly what we want.

Even if this spells doom on the long term for us who live off of writing, even in TTRPGs it's wild to know of how many people do not read games, let alone play them.
