The manuscript of the week is RIA MS C iii 1, the Annals of Connacht. This unique manuscript records episodes in the history of Gaelic Ireland for over three hundred years from AD 1224 to AD 1544, with one later entry added (in different ink) for the year 1562.

The Psalters exhibition at the Morgan Library surpassed my already high expectations. This case was among my favorite: two manuscripts of the psalms made 600 years apart, on the left with Old English (the little words in between the main text) from c.750 & on the right in Middle English from c.1400.

This is the feast of Ambrose, Bishop of Milan, d. 397. 🕯️ BNF lat. 1732 is an early-8th-c. Uncial MS of several of his works. The headings to the various items have lovely colors and some fun beasties. The Uncial is very mannered: look at the loops on those As! #medievalsky
