For #Hanukkah, we're visiting 1 Home Farm Drive, part of the Upton House estate. A former farm outbuilding, it was converted in the 1930s by the owners of the estate, the Bearsteds, for their family Rabbi to live in.

Between 1828-9 Samuel Hasell excavated a villa at Pitney #Somerset

Sheds were built to protect the villa but sadly they had gone by 1836 and so had the mosaics 😞

All we have left are lithographs like this one by Hasell of Cadmus thrashing a python*

*don't Google this 😬

Happy #MosaicMonday

Did you know that there are more than 150 hillforts, hilltop and hillslope enclosures recorded on land cared for by the National Trust?

They're amazing archaeological sites, but also real havens for nature. 🧵

We were excited to welcome Time Team back last week to Branodunum Roman Fort on the Norfolk Coast. Geophysics experts used Ground Penetrating Radar on parts of the site and now have a huge amount of data to analyse and interpret. We look forward to finding out what they found in the new year.
