"The 'reduction in enthusiasm' [for climate action] among rich nations didn’t happen by accident.

It’s the product of a deliberate and systematic assault on knowledge by some of the richest people on Earth.

Preventing climate breakdown means protecting ourselves from the storm of lies."
Climate breakdown is driven by a storm of lies. This lying is systemic, funded and coordinated, and operates across almost all media, old and new.
This week's column argues that we cannot fight the climate crisis without also fighting the epistemic crisis.

Dark forces are preventing us fighting the climate crisis – by taking knowledge hostage | George Monbiot
The fundamental problem is this: that most of the means of communication are owned or influenced by the very rich, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

75 years ago, the ECHR was signed after the horrors of the war.

Today, Nigel Farage and many Westminster politicians want to tear up the laws that protect our basic human rights.

Our rights are not Westminster’s to take away. We will stand firmly against that.

To be effective, protest must be noisy, obstructive, annoying. No longer is this allowed. Now the last attribute of effective dissent – persistence – is also to be banned. But the moment protest ceases to be effective is the moment democracy dies. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Here’s what you need to know about Starmer’s illiberal protest curbs: they would have killed the Labour party at birth | George Monbiot
The rights we enjoy in the UK, and the movement the PM purports to lead, were built on protest. Those rights are in dire peril, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

I was a loud south-east London girl who became Welsh, heart and soul.

Our Wales is one that welcomes, includes and builds, not one that divides.

Yet again ch 4 news Catherine Sampson produced a strangulated account of SNP conference. No encounter with members, no account of the overwhelming vote in support of John Swinney. And nothing on STUCs speech this morning - accolade to our government

What was that interview with John Swinney on ch4 news just now?? Massively edited to the point of sound bites. I welcome a longer exposure of Plaid Cymru but they were given much longer to explain their ideas. Snp is treated very differently.
