Gonna be real, I’ve been side-eyeing the consensus of, “oh she’s everyone’s grandma!” since before QEII died but I find it exceptionally side-eye worthy in the years after her death.

Ngl, because I’m currently writing a fun crackfic set in the USA, it’s kinda discouraging to get wind of discourse making fun of Brits for “trying to hide” they’re not American.
Not trying to hide my nationality. I just think it’s jarring to write “bonnet” instead of “hood” in a US-based fic!

I stayed up well into the wee hours watching an Olympics tennis match in 2016. Many recent Winter games were in a time zone where I was asleep for some of it so sorry… I’m not gonna feel sorry for folk complaining that they think hockey should be moved to the middle of the night European time.

I retreat into fandom spaces because I’m not enjoying my professional life, but then fandom spaces become intimidating and make me feel like I don’t belong and then I feel miserable there too until something provides temporary joy, but there’s always a reminder lurking that you might not fit in.

Any time I see someone complaining, “nobody writes long fic anymore” writers propose engaging with WIPs instead of waiting for them to be completed, and the people complaining basically do this…
